Things I Wish I Knew Before: Go to the places you never thought of visiting! Some of my favorite trips have been the last-minute, spontaneous trips to less-traveled destinations.

Favorite Part: Milan is such an amazing city and being able to attend the Olympics has been so much fun! Cheering on the Badgers at the women's ice hockey event was such an unforgettable experience.

Things I Wish I Knew Before: Some advice I wish I knew before coming here is that you will walk a TON. I didn’t realize that despite Madrid, and most major cities, having a really good public transportation system, I would still be walking upwards of 15,000 steps a day. So invest in some good walking shoes and thank me later!

Favorite Part: My favorite part of my experience thus far has been immersing myself in my home base city, Madrid. I have been able to settle into the city, whether it’s finding my new favorite coffee shop, learning about the history of the Palace, or walking around Retiro Park. I truly feel like I am settling into the daily life here. A highlight of my abroad experience so far was definitely the trip I took to Paris my first weekend abroad. We walked around seeing all of the major sights: the Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, etc. In the evening, we went on a cruise along the Seine and were able to see the Eiffel Tower light up at night, which was absolutely surreal. Definitely a city I highly recommend visiting!
